What is the difference between massage and a Coaching the Body™ bodywork session?
Massage is generally designed to promote relaxation, reduce stress, and support overall well-being. It's often a more passive experience, using flowing techniques to ease muscle tension and calm the nervous system.
Coaching the Body™ (CTB) is a specialized form of clinical bodywork that goes beyond relaxation. It’s designed to address the root causes of pain, tension, and limited mobility. CTB blends trigger point therapy, movement retraining, and nervous system regulation to restore function and ease, often where traditional massage and other therapies have fallen short.
If you're looking for relaxation and to de-stress, massage is a great option.
If you're dealing with persistent pain, movement restrictions, or muscular imbalances, bodywork like CTB is a more targeted and therapeutic approach. -
How often should I get a bodywork session?
The ideal frequency depends on your goals, your body’s response to treatment, and the nature of the issue we’re addressing.
We always start with a comprehensive 2-hour initial assessment and bodywork session. This gives us time to discuss your pain history, assess your movement patterns, and begin hands-on work to uncover what’s driving your symptoms.
Keep in mind that many clients experience significant relief after just one session, but everyone responds differently. After this first session, we’ll have a clearer picture of what your body needs and will discuss a personalized treatment plan; whether that means a few focused follow-ups, occasional maintenance, or simply self-care guidance moving forward.
The goal is always to help you feel better as quickly and efficiently as possible, not to keep you coming back forever.

What should I wear?
Please wear comfortable, stretchy clothing. Generally no lotion is necessary.
Women: wear or bring shorts and a sports bra or tank top.
Men: wear or bring a pair of shorts.
Treatment takes place on a heated, cushioned floor mat.

What does a bodywork session feel like?
A bodywork session should feel therapeutic, not like something being done to you, but something we do together. Every session is a collaboration, and we’ll work closely to determine what therapeutic means for your body. You’re encouraged to give feedback throughout the session. This helps me listen to your body and naviate treatment appropriately.
Some clients feel immediate relief. Others may feel slightly sore or “worked on” afterward. That is normal, and usually settles within about 48 hours. Occasionally, someone may feel worse before they feel better, but this is not common.
I encourage open communication after your session. I genuinely want to know how your body is responding so I can make the best plan moving forward. You're never bothering me. Your experience matters, and it helps me help you better.

Do you take insurance?
Bodywork sessions are not covered by insurance, and I do not work directly with insurance companies.
However, I’m happy to provide a receipt that you can submit for FSA or HSA reimbursement, if your plan allows. Some clients are also able to use their FSA or HSA debit cards at the time of payment, depending on their provider.
Coverage varies, so it’s always a good idea to check with your plan in advance. If you have questions about what information needs to be included on your receipt, I’m happy to help.

Do you work on children?
Yes, I do work with children and young athletes. The most important factor is that the child is able to comfortably communicate what they’re feeling during the session. Since Coaching the Body™ is highly interactive, this feedback is essential for effective treatment.
If you’re unsure whether your child is a good fit for this type of work, I’m happy to talk it through with you. Feel free to reach out by phone or text with any questions.
Curious but not sure?
